Seeking God Through His Word

Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. (Psalm 119:9) God tells us how to clean up our acts, and that is by taking heed to His Word. It is our youth that need God's Word to influence their lives, so that they can go on to lead in the future with a godly influence.

With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. (Psalm 119:10)
A focus on the Word of God will help us to not wander from what God has commanded.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11)
This is a very simple verse that can help us to live a life without sin. We all know that we are not perfect, so commit the Word of God to your heart to help you avoid sin.

Blessed art thou, O Lord teach me thy statutes. (Psalm 119:12)
Looking to God to guide is the only way to know the way God want us to live.

With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth. (Psalm 119:13)
Telling others about what is going to happen in the end will help others to know that their life is not their own.

I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. (Psalm 119:14)
We have much to rejoice about, because we have been given new life and promise of an eternal home in Heaven.

I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. (Psalm 119:15)
Constant meditation on God's precepts demands respect.

I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. (Psalm 119:16)
Thank You Lord for the statutes that you have spoken, and thank You Lord for Your Word.

Words of God, Worthy of Our Praise

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. (Psalm 119:1)
There is much blessing for those that who walk in the way of the Lord. I know that we as Christians do our best to walk in the law of the Lord, but we are not perfect. It is only by the grace of God that we live through Him.

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. (Psalm 119:2)
There are so many testimonies that we can express about what the Lord has done, will do, and is going to do. Seeking God helps to calm the storms of life, and to guide us through the dark valleys.

They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. (Psalm 119:3)
There are not many that can say this, but I know that we try to do our best. God has given us the way that we should live in His Word.

Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. (Psalm 119:4)
As with work, this should be done so diligently. If we do not keep the precepts of the Lord diligently; then we are bound to fall into sin.

O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! (Psalm 119:5)
David wants to keep the statutes of the Lord, but he knows that it is difficult.

Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. (Psalm 119:6)
There is shame for those that have not respected and obeyed the commandments of the Lord.

I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. (Psalm 119:7) I will praise the Lord for what I have learned from Him.

I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly. (Psalm 119:8)
He gives his best for the Lord, and asks Him not to forsake him completely.

Every Morning

Every morning I rise to praise,
The Creator of my days.
Every morning I rise to live,
And every part of me I give.

Every morning I rise to love,
The Maker of the Heavens above.
Every morning I rise to pray,
And thank Him for everyday.

Every morning I rise to say,
That without Him there is no today.
Every morning I rise to labor,
And ask Him for His favor.

The Reason For Praise

You ask me why I smile and I sing,
Because Christ has become my heart's King.
I know that it is hard to smile in the storm,
But with my Comforter, smiling is the norm.

This praise comes from an imperfect heart,
And Christ has filled the empty part.
The burdens we bear have been made light,
The sin we were in has been made right.*
(Through salvation, Christ has imparted His righteousness.)

I will praise Him even when there are no words left,
He hid me in the rock that was cleft.
He has guided and protected me for a while,
And I am longing for Him, as a little child.

It takes a faith of a little child to understand,
What Christ has done; what God has planned.
Come to Him as child in need of a father's love,
To know the love that Christ brought down from above.

The reason for praise was Christ's sacrifice,
Because we know that nothing else would suffice.
To have a heart filled with praise,
You have to know the Author of all of our days.

Not Mine, But God's

All rewards not mine,
But given back to God divine.
For in what I have I cannot boast,
But in the Lord, Who has done the most.

For what I gain I count but lost,
But I serve God at any cost.
If I am not committed to serve,
Then nothing do I deserve.

Serve others and not myself,
And remove myself from the dusty shelf.
For an idle person cannot serve,
And for them punishment is in reserve.

Joy Overflowing

Fulfill the joy that has been afforded to you,
And rejoice in everything you do.
The joy that by none can be taken,
Even though your world might be shaken.

Things may arise to steal your joy,
But God fulfilling, nothing else can employ.
Joy like fountains gushing out of me,
And it is because Jesus died for thee.

Joy, I will let the whole world know,
That my Lord has called me forth to go.
Bright and indwelling, this joy I am telling,
No darkness can cover, no evil dispelling.

Jesus gave me the joy of my salvation,
And He changed my eternal destination.
Joy from me is overflowing,
Because my Jesus, I am knowing.

This joy is yours to share,
If Christ, you have given your soul to care.
For joy is not found on this mortal plane,
But in Christ, He for our sins was a slain.

Mother's Day

Today we celebrate the one person that has brought us into the world, and cared for us till we could stand on our own two feet. A mother's love is important to every child, and many children do not have that privilege, because the women that have babies do not take responsibility for their actions. A mother's duties are never done and that she knows very well. She does not fall easily under this burden, but there are times that it can be overwhelming. I ask that every child treat their mothers with respect on this day, even if you don't on any other day. If there are any issues between you and your mother, please try to resolve those issues today. I am thankful for my mother and rejoice with her in her motherhood. Thank you, Mother for what you have done over these years, and for what you are still doing. If you are in a situation that you don't know what to do ask your mother. Proverbs 31 definitely describes a mother. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers.

Holy

Holiness none can know,
But God in our presence show.
For God, His thoughts above,
That He would consider us in love.

Holy, Holy, we proclaim,
Because that is His name.
We live and die by Him,
And we are called out of them.

Holiness that we cannot attain,
But it is our continual refrain.
For He is High and Holy,
And we are humbled and lowly.

Speak of Him

What are those around us saying?
Are we for these people praying?
I want them to see this God of mine,
And I want them, my God to refine.

Am I speaking well of Him?
Or does out of me, evil stem?
I want to be a blessing to others,
I want to save my brothers.

They live life to their own desire,
But this will end in Hell's fire.
My life is not my own,
And this by my Saviour has been shown.

Rejoice, For He has Risen

Rejoice, for He has risen,
And all those who know Him, listen,
He lived and died and rose again,
It rings throughout the ages, Amen.

He lives within our hearts,
And everyday His love imparts,
Salvation's saving power,
And we praise Him every day and every hour.

He foretold us long ago,
So that later we would know,
Of Jesus' sacrifice,
And only His blood would pay the price.

We have remembered as we drank the wine,
And break the bread, that our Lord, Divine,
Did crush the serpent's head and his power defeat,
When blood flowed from His head, His hands, His side, His feet.

Rejoice, with those who have seen Him,
Because He rose and broke sin's chains and gave us freedom.
For those who have not seen Him can only anticipate His return,
But until then we can watch and pray and learn.

The Eve of the Resurrection

The day has past when our Lord was crucified,
The day on which our Saviour on the cross died.
He did what no one else could do,
And with His blood, He has made our lives new.

We wept on the day that He died,
But before that in the garden He cried,
He was greatly burdened by what He had to do,
But He knew that His Father would see Him through.

He took on this burden willingly,
So we could see what He did for you and me.
A death that would change many lives,
But on the third day, our Saviour revives.

Look to tomorrow and know what is to come,
When the stone was rolled away from the tomb.
For our Saviour is living in the hearts of men,
And He is daily saving them from sin.

Good Friday

This day our Saviour did die,
But there is no reason to cry.
The only reason we weep,
Is because the hold on sin we keep.

For salvation did come along ago,
Because our Saviour, His love did show.
He offers it to all who believe,
Then they, my Christ shall receive.

For He made His way up that hill,
And through this, His promise He did fulfill.
For salvation does not come by works of good,
Even though some people think it should.

For the blood that did flow from the cross,
Helped to refine and burn away sin's dross.
We are blinded by our sinful state,
And we in this state will not cooperate.

For we celebrate this day, because of what He did,
When He through salvation, our souls of sin He rid.
No other day holds so much promise,
Because of what He did for us.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

Worship the True King

Though the King of Heaven endured our sin,
He did it to take away the filthiness within.
For He chose that this cup not pass away,
And He is the beacon so that He can light our way.

This King does not have a earthly home,
But He did on this sod for short time did roam.
While He was here, He did many great things,
And with His death, our salvation He brings.

Three days hence, He did rise and conquered the grave,
And through His sacrifice, He is able to save.
You claim that there is no higher power,
But Satan through this lie, has many devoured.

My Jesus is the eternal King,
And my praise will loudly sing.
You fill the void left by sin,
And Your Spirit lives within.

King of All

Who sits on the eternal throne?
His handiwork in Creation known.
He takes care of His Creation,
And He longs to have the hearts of every nation.

Who sent His Son to pay sin's price?
And Satan's head was crushed by His sacrifice.
Who came to seek and save?
So that we would not be to sin a slave.

Who came to show us our desperate need?
To know that we are sinners indeed.
We made the choice to fulfil our flesh,
Instead of obeying and having new life afresh.

God knows every heart's intent,
And where every soul in eternity will be sent.
For the choices of life you make,
In Him, His promise, He will not break.

What Was I Created For?

What was I created for?
My God to honor and adore.
What was I called to do?
To proclaim the Gospel to you.

What did He do for you?
He died on the cross to make you new.
What have I done to God?
I have sinned and committed fraud.

Fraud, You wonder why?
When we say we are good, we lie.
Sin no matter what is done,
In the end, of heaven you will have none.

How can I be saved?
Your soul in His hands laid.
Confess your sins today,
And do so as you pray.

The Gift of Worship

So many of us are not sure what we have as a gift that we can use for the Lord. I want to put forth a simple truth, and that is using our worship as a gift to praise God. Worship is not something confined to the church, because it is something that is within us that is limitless; we just have to choose to make a joyful noise. We may not have the best voice, but what we do utter in the presence of the Lord it is heard.

Lord, lend Thy ear to hear my praise,
It is because of You we can raise.
For Your blessings are not slack,
And I can see them as I look back.

Lord, I come to Your presence,
And wonder at Your omnipotence.
For the power is Yours, and I proclaim,
That Holy, Holy is Your name.

Lord, hear now my prayer,
That when I call, You are there.
That I know now, and until then,
You are Most High, Amen.

Broken Chains

Rejoice, for sin's chains are broken,
Released by Your Words spoken.
Though by man I be retained,
Your presence has still remained.

Freedom is not of my own doing,
While man Your promise is misconstruing,
I believe the purpose is not my own,
But it is to make Thy presence known.

Bind me to Thy heart,
And rejoice from the inner part.
Though the trials are long,
Through it all, I am made strong.

Come Now to Worship

Tomorrow is not just another day,
For we listen, learn, and pray.
His house, the doors are open wide,
Put away your pomp, circumstance, and pride.

He called us to set this time apart,
For the renewing and changing of the heart.
Put the distractions all aside,
All who enter here are welcome inside.

Come now to worship all who enter here,
We worship with reverence and fear.
For He is worthy of the worship that we bring,
Through the praises that we sing.

His Mighty Words and Deeds

God sets the example for David. David expresses what God is doing in his life. Most of the time we are not able to follow the example set by God Himself, but He shows us the way in which to live a God-honoring life. My God is able to do anything. We will be taking a look at Psalms 19.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork."(1) There is beauty during the day and the night, and that is not even the half of His handywork. I am amazed everyday that I wake up of the beautiful sunrise that God paints across the morning sky.

"Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge."(2) We communicate with others on a daily basis, and we should do the same by praying everyday. The night time has been the most common time that people tend to do their studying. They are seeking to gain knowledge in whatever they are studying.

"There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard."(3) Once God has come to a place; He makes Himself known.

"Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,"(4) God has used His people to reach the uttermost parts of the world. There are still people out there that have never heard of Him, so let them know that He cares.

"Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race."(5) The bridegroom is looking forward to being joined to his wife, and he has prepared for that day as he would prepare for a race.

"His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof."(6) The sun falls upon everyone, and just like the sun, God is everywhere at all times. That is mind-boggling, the power that He has.

"The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple."(7) All things pertaining to God are perfect, and His testimony is made known among the people. True wisdom is found in God, not in any books that the earth's libraries can contain.

"The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes."(8) God has opened our eyes to the way that we ought to live.

"The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."(9) This fear is a fear of reverence, and the judgments that He makes are just.

"More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb."(10) We have all desired temporal treasures at one time, but when we accepted Christ our perspective was changed. We have come to desire the things God, and not those things that would leave us empty and give only temporary satisfaction.

"Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward."(11) David speaks of the rewards that comes to those that keep God's Law.

"Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults."(12) God is infallible, and He through Christ can cleanse us from our unrighteousness.

"Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression."(13) David prays that God would keep from sin.

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer." (14) David wants to please God in his words and meditations.

Lord, Thank You for caring about the very small details of my life. Thank you also for how You work in the lives of others. Thank you for the bountiful blessings that You have bestowed upon me and my family.

The Continued Deliverance of God

We have been blessed as God's children to have His deliverance from our enemies. David experienced that throughout his life. Even after all that he had done in his life both bad and good; the Lord delivered him out of the hands of his enemies. We need to leave the vengeance to the Lord, because if we take it into our own hands we dishonor God. We are looking at the final part of chapter 18 of Psalms.

"They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the Lord, but He answered them not."(41) Our enemies seek salvation, but not in the way that we do. If they truly want salvation; then the Lord will hear them.

"Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets."(42) Later in the Old Testament, in Zechariah it says, "And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in battle: and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded."(10:5) The victory is not accomplished by man's strength, but through the Lord's almighty power.

"Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me."(43) In Isaiah, it talks of the Lord's deliverance, "Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee."(Is. 55:5) Later in Psalms, it says, "Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee."(Ps. 66:3) That verse is giving praise to God for His deliverance.

"As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me."(44) It is because of God that submission under the rule of David is possible over these strangers.

"The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places."(45) David says the same thing earlier in 2 Samuel 22:46. The enemies of the Lord have this to look forward to according to Micah the prophet, "They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the Lord our God, and shall fear because of Thee.(Micah 7:17)

"The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted."(46) We are saved by an everlasting God. We are not saved by some dead prophet or hidden holy man, but by a living God. With penitent heart, David speaks these words to Nathan, "Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness."(Ps. 51:14) Even after all that he did, he was called a man after God's own heart. David knew when he had done something wrong, and sometimes the Lord had to get his attention.

"It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me."(47) The Lord God reigns, and no one will overtake Him.

"He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: Thou hast delivered me from the violent man."(48) Even when the battle is raging; the Lord delivers us.

"Therefore will I give thanks unto Thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and sing praises unto Thy name."(49) The small bit of gratitude that we have within us cannot begin to speak of the almighty power of God.

"Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore."(50) There is so much more to the attributes of God that we cannot begin to describe.

Lord, Thank You for your continued deliverance.

Praise the Lord For What He Does

I am continuing the study of Psalms 18. We need to make preparations on a daily basis for the battles that we face. If we go into situations that we are unprepared for; we will come away from them with loss. We have a God that is concerned about every part of our lives. There is nothing that He is not capable of doing.

"For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save God?"(31) God is the only One. He is our firm foundation.

"It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect."(32) God gives us strength, and the path that He has put us on is perfect.

"He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places."(33) He helps us to reach the high places. Our lives are not always dwelling in the high places, but when we are there it is beautiful.

"He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms."(34) Our lives are a battle on a daily basis, and if we are not prepared we will only hurt ourselves. He makes us strong so that when the enemy attacks we are ready for the battle.

"Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great."(35) The Lord equips us for the battle, and He has given the wisdom to fight the battle.

"Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip."(36) Sometimes our steps are unsure, but the Lord makes the path clear.

"I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed."(37) We are to press forward and fight the good fight. There are battles that leave an impression upon us, and those are the ones that help us to fight the future battles.

"I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet."(38) It is through the strength of our God that we are able to fight against our enemies, because without God's power, our victories are few.

"For Thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me."(39) Through the preparation of the Word we are able to gain strength for the battle.

"Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me."(40) It is the Lord that can destroy our enemies. When interpreting this verse; we should not take it out of context. If we destroy our enemies; we are only destroying ourselves. It is in the prayers of a righteous man that he prevails.

All of Creation Rejoice

If God's people do not rejoice about what He has done for them; then it says in God's Word that creation will rejoice about what He has done. How can we let the rejoicing be left to the rocks? We have so much to be thankful for because of what Christ has saved us from.

Separated until the veil was torn
The moment that hope was born

And guilt was pardoned once and for all

Captivated but no longer bound by chains

Left at an empty grave
The sinner and the sacred resolved

And all of creation sing with me now
Lift up your voice and lay your burden down
And all of creation sing with me now
Fill up the heavens let His glory resound

Time has faded and we see Him face to face

Every doubt erased forever we will worship the king

The reason we breathe is to sing of His glory
And for all he has done praise the Father praise the Son and the Spirit in one

And every knee will bow oh and every tongue praise the Father praise the Son and the Spirit in one
(All of Creation-Mercy Me)

Rejoice for the Lord, He is our God.
